Saturday, October 5, 9 am-4 pm
St. Edward the Confessor Episcopal Church, 865 Ferndale Rd N, Wayzata, MN
Why are there two very different stories about how this prayer came into being (the first from Luke and the second from Matthew)? What images flow into your heart and mind as Jesus speaks in the Galilean
Aramaic that is his native tongue? What do you hear and how does it
affect you? These are the kinds of questions that will be explored in
this thoughtful, meditative retreat.
The retreat will include some of both Ancestral knowledge and Wisdom teaching in traditional learning formats and meditation time. We will explore the Aramaic language and the concepts expressed by
Jesus by going line-by-line through the Lord’s Prayer. The nuances and
meanings of the prayer in Aramaic may surprise you and will certainly
enrich your faith.
The retreat is led by The Rev. Paul Shaffer, who received his Doctor of Ministry in 2007 in the study of Creation Spirituality. A deep part of his study centered on the spirituality of Jesus as expressed in the
Aramaic version of the Lord’s Prayer.
